Where we Stand

I loved who I was. I love who I am. I will love who I become.

There are so many things to be grateful and thankful for these days. It would be easy to focus on the negative or what I didn't have, but what's the fun in that.

There are people who would love to be where you are. They would love to come home from work to a warm meal waiting for them. They would love to have a home to come home to. They would love to have a job to come home from. They would love to be able to go to the store and buy not only what they need but items on their want list as well.

Some of us are blessed beyond measure. Some of us have more than we could ever use and yet for some of us it is not enough. Some of us could feed a family of four with some of the food that we throw away on a weekly basis.

We must become better stewards over our blessings. Our blessings are not just things, but the people in our lives as well. We have to treat each other better. We have to respect each other's feelings. We have to listen more and talk less. We have to stop thinking that people should just get over it. Because some of those 'its' come from some pretty dark places.

We have to know that together we are stronger and that we are only as strong as the weakest link. This I truly believe.

Until next time,
Be Blessed, Sisterfriend

Truly, there are many blessings for which I am thankful. I tend, however, to lose sight of my blessings at times because the glaring reality of "...living just enough..." seem to contradict what I know to be true. I AM BLESSED - beyond measure and I'd like to think that I AM a good steward over my blessings.

Sometimes I don't feel blessed because I am singularly focused on the half-empty portion of the glass. I allow my faith in who He is to be shaken by circumstances and what I see with my natural eye. It is only when I see a bald woman fighing breast cancer & know she's not me; my hair is well past my shoulders...it is when I see a child with a disability & know that is not my child(ren); in addition to being beautiful, smart, healthy and active, they are also awesome dancers...it is when I see someone going through marital problems & know; although my spouse & I have our own set of issues, we love each other unconditionally and fight to hold this thing called marriage together because that IS what we signed up for. It is at these times that I realize that only by the Grace, Mercy & Favor of the Father - it is not me, so what do I have to complain about? I am blessed!

I am a work in progress in the Count Your Blessings Dept. I recognize that having a loving family & circle of friends means that I have a whole gang of blessings to be thankful for! I also realize that "this woman's work" isn't done because there is always room for improvement in appreciating all that I am blessed with and all that I have to be thankful for. Blessed assurance, indeed. I'm just sayin'...
